Former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger and Lilburn (Geo.) Police Communications Officer–Dispatcher Tim Smith passed away from medical conditions on September 13, 2011. He was known at the dispatcher “with a gold voice” during his 11-year career with the department, and was named Communications Officer of the Year in 2003. Coworkers remember his quick smile and sense of humor, which he often used to dispel the stress of handling critical 9-1-1 calls.
During his illness, his many friends and colleagues supported Tim, and last May held a very ssuccessful fund-raiser for him that helped pay for his many expenses.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from noon to 8 p.m.
