I wanted to write and get our two cents in for National Telecommunicators Week, 2009.

Last week I sent out emails to the Sheriff’s office, EMS, Fire departments and our PD’s to vote for a “Dispatcher of the year” in our department.  This is the first year, hopefully of many to come, for having a Dispatcher of the year. Our lucky recipient was Missie Cullop.  Missie started in dispatch April 2006, after working in two other positions within the department.  Missie has been a great asset to communications and gives forth all her effort.

The Sheriff gave each dispatcher a gift card from Cracker Barrel for his appreciation.

I gave an “Award of Merit” for the dispatcher who had the most created calls during the week.  The Dispatcher who received that award was Brenda Lloyd. There was some off, so of course they did not have a lot to contribute to the total.  But one sure thing, it let me know who was doing most of the work between team members!

I would like to thank all Dispatcher’s everywhere who sit behind the consoles and who take a lot of abuse and cussing, with out getting the praise they deserve.
