Proclamation
WHEREAS, The Congress has designated the week of April 13th - 19th as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week to celebrate and pay tribute to the work of public safety communications professional; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Public Safety Telecommunicators of Old Bridge play an essential role in ensuring that everyone has the resources they need in times of emergencies. The communication centers receive calls from persons seeking immediate relief during an emergency as well as those seeking to report suspicious behaviors, unusual incidents and responding to the now common plea for citizen vigilance and attention in the wake of homeland security concerns; and
WHEREAS, across the nation in times of intense personal crisis and community-wide disasters, the first access point for those seeking all classes of emergency services information is 9-1-1; and
WHEREAS, the demands on 9-1-1 telecommunicators continues to grow with rapid advancements in technology and increasing homeland security threats. Yet 9-1-1 professionals remain dedicated to their calling and are always there to provide a calm and reassuring voice on the other end of the call for help, 24 hours a day, 365 days a years; and
WHEREAS, as Public Safety Telecommunications week approaches, the people of Old Bridge Township would like to thank our 9-1-1 communicators for their dedication and tireless service.
Now, Therefore,I James T. Phillips, Mayor of Old Bridge Township, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim the week of April 13th - 19th, 2008, as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week to bring attention to the dedicated public safety telecommunicators who aid in providing emergency assistance to citizens everywhere.
