National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
Suggestions for activities:
We normally wear uniforms so on most of the days during the week we had themed casual days and food.
- Sunday was Kick of day with cake and ice cream-come dressed in your favorite sports team clothing,
- Monday was Mardis Gras-dress in bright colors.
- Tuesday was Taco Tuesday and they were in uniform because we had a special guest! One of our dispatcher's assisted in delivering a beautiful baby girl back in September and the parents wanted to meet the dispatcher so everyone in the center was able to be part of this reunion! Media was invited and we made the National News!
- Wednesday was Western-dress in western style and they had chili and hotdogs.
- Thursday was retro-dress or bring something that reminds you of the past...some people brought weebles and one her blankie from when she was a child.
- Friday if Fantastic Four-a celebration of superheroes and we will purchase "fast food" for the teams.
- The last day is Slumber Saturday and they actually get to wear their PJs and they get popcorn and munchies. the tacos and chili ended up being pretty cheap to make for the teams which allowed us to get a big draw for a night out-gift cards from Cineplex, gas station for fuel and for a restaurant.
- We also had random draws for extra ballots for the big draw, a prize drawer with little prizes and extra break vouchers.
We also asked the mentees from our last class which mentor they felt was the most helpful and a certificate was created for those mentors and they were given an extra break voucher. These were framed and presented by the manager.
Our COO gave every dispatcher a personalized thank you letter and the Public Safety Department (in government) gave all dispatchers a certificate of appreciation.
The teams had a lot of fun dressing up, having the freedom and eating the food! I've attached a few of the documents used for the week...Happy Telecommunications Week everyone!
