WHEREAS, the third week in April 2003, has been declared "National Public Safety Communications Week" by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America;
and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States will issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe that week with appropriate ceremonies and activities; and
WHEREAS, problems of crime, fire and other disasters touch and affect all segments of our society, and if unabated, can undermine and erode both moral and economic strengths of our community; and
WHEREAS, men and women are engaged in the operation of emergency response systems for the City of Coral Springs; and
WHEREAS, these individuals are responsible for responding to telephone calls from the general public for police, fire, and emergency medical assistance, and for dispatching said assistance to help
save the lives and property of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, our Public Safety Communications personnel daily serve the public in countless ways without due recognition by the beneficiaries of their services.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Sommerer, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Coral Springs, Florida, do hereby proclaim April 13-19, 2003 as:
NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS WEEK
in the City of Coral Springs and urge all citizens to participate in making this week a successful celebration.
