If the patient does not require an emergency transport, the first-responder can refer the person back into the non-emergency triage system for assistance. In some cases, the first-responder can treat the person without any further referral or medical assistance.
Transport can be to the closest hospital for the most emergent situations, to a medical facility that provides specialized care (pediatrics, burn unit, etc.), to the patient's managed care provider, or to another hospital.
