Consensus Plan Update

The law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery recently examined documents filed with the FCC to determine support (or not) of the Consensus Plan for reorganizing the 800 MHz radio band. In 2001 Nextel proposed sweeping changes in how the 800 MHz band should be divided up, and then a group of companies and organizations countered with the so-called "Consensus Proposal" in 2002.

[Editor: Naturally, any list is a product of whoever compiles it, and this one is not exception. Also, there are many reasons for a company or organization to support or oppose the proposal, and not just on its merits--there may be related reasons for their position, based on how it affects their operations. Use caution when using the list as a simple "scorecard" of the supporters and detractors of the Consensus Proposal.]

On behalf of Cinergy Corp., Consumers Energy Co., Entergy Corp. and Entergy Services, Inc., the law firm examined FCC documents filed in connection with Docket 02-55, and as of April 16, 2003 they show:

Consensus Parties Supporting the Plan

Parties Opposing the Consensus Plan

Parties Expressing Reservations About the Consensus Plan
