I Love This Job Because.......

the outside of the building looks calm and serene, but inside can be full of energy with phones ringing, radio traffic buzzing, and clicking on keyboards. Or, it can be as calm and serene as the outside of the building. You never know till you walk in the door and the atmosphere can change in a minute.

The job is typically thankless and we go unnoticed. But once in a while we receive the recognition we deserve. Maybe it's a heartfelt thank you from a caller or a pat on the back from an officer... but ever once in a while we're reaffirmed that we make a difference. That's why I love this job... (odd reasoning, I know... but I never said I wasn't a lil odd)

I love this job because when I think it's going to be a typical, slow Wedneday night we get a pursuit ending in a crash and an armed suspect. What other job gives you uncertainty & excitement like that? :)

Because I'm immensely curious and I love knowing about all the weird stuff going on in my city.

Because I come home with funny stories every day, but every once in a while I can come home and say I really helped someone in crisis.

I love 99.9% of people. Even the ones that drive me crazy usually either make me laugh or teach me something.

It's comforting to know that if you call 911, someone will pick up the phone, and almost every time help will be coming your way. I love being a part of that. Even if people call us for what we see as BS, I'm so fortunate this system is in place and people feel like they have something to fall back on when they don't know who else to call or what to do.

There is always something different going on. No time to get complacent.
I like to know that I can make a difference even when things are going badly for someone (and sometimes that is me >O)
Even with the lack of support sometimes from upper management, this is the coolest job in the world!
Probably would not trade it .. if I could.
