Training Aids - reference cards

Postby wretsub on Tue Apr 07, 2009 4:21 pm

Hello,

I am looking for training aids...memory joggers... to have when taking calls. For example if one is EMD, there is a card that has the correct procedures to follow in response to aid needed.

Also, the questions that need to be covered in different calls.

I am a new dispatcher and trying to find some training aids to help in taking calls. I was told that there are items available, just don't know where they are located to purchase.

For many types of calls the questions will be similar, but your agency and/or trainer should be poviding you with this information during your training. They may have SOP's that cover specific questions to be asked based on the call. Find those SOP's and make your own cards. No point in wasting money on something you can do yourself on some index cards and notebook pages.

You will need to get this information from your agency. Each agency has a different set of standards and order in which questions should be asked. I would avoid learning someone elses method because it might cause problems.
