The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) has posted a half-White Paper, half-advertisement for SkyTerra Communications, providing information about the company's advanced satellite communications services. The SkyTerra system offers voice service with both telephone and two-way radio-like features, fax and data, and is working on satellite-cellular integration. The company specifically offers mutual aid radio talkgroups for public safety customers, allowing every state, district and territory to communicate with one another. The IAFC information paper is mostly promotional and marketing material from SkyTerra's Web site, but concisely describes the features of the satellite service. Download (pdf) the paper here.
