| Spanish Translation Card Posted |

 A good idea for a Spanish language translation card was made even better by a West Palm Beach (Fla.) officer, and now the card has been posted on-line for anyone to use. The officer saw the card used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg (NC) police, and revised it for use by his agency. The card graphically depicts various weapons, vehicles and other descriptive elements, and allows a witness to circle them to quickly describe suspects or other persons. The card is being distributed by Andrew Jackson University in Birmingham (Ala.) as a service to the law enforcement community. Download (pdf) the card here, or just get a glimpse here.

I think that this was a great idea. I do agree with Rolo, but just the thought of it helps. I am a Spanish speaker and I get used for every Spanish call when I am there. The card was a great idea... |

This is a great idea. I've forwarded it to my supervisors. Around here (a university) may need a different tweak. Also, Rolo, I agree with the more illustrations and think that it could easily be incorporated. |

This is great! Have already forwarded the info to patrol supervisors. We have a shortage of bilingual patrol officers and a high need for them. Kudos to the inventor! |

This is definitely a good idea that could be expanded upon. Unfortunately in my jurisdiction there are a high percentage of Spanish speakers that cannot read or write. They could see these words in Spanish and not know what they say. It may need more illustration but kudos to whoever thought this up. |
