This is the top of the Sandia Peak Tram ride, northeast of Albuquerque (NM). At this point, visitors are 10,350 above sea level, and are experiencing a -20 degree drop in temperature from the valley below. The view here--on a clear day--can encompass 11,000 square miles.

The metal pipes in the left center of the photo are viewing aids--they are numbered corresponding to distant points in the valley. One looks through the pipes to pinpoint a landmark, but they offer no magnification!
