This is Little Boy, the first atomic weapon ever deployed in war. It was dropped by the United States on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. This is a replica of the containment structure of the bomb. Behind the bomb are newspaper accounts and other historical materials pertaining to the first use of the bomb. This bomb is on display at the National Atomic Museum outside of Albuquerque (NM).

A second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki three days later.
