Las Vegas Metro Police Comm Center

We visited the 32,000 square-foot LVMPD comm center during IWCE 2001 and were quite impressed.
The center opened in August 2000, and its architecture mirrors the desert's colors and has a "curve" theme.
The huge dispatch floor (above) features a workstation arrangement, and
includes 53 positions that aren't being used--they're designed for expansion.

The center uses Printrak CAD, Plant Equipment Inc.'s VESTA for phones and
console applications by Orbacom to integrate most functions on one screen.
The center is served by an OC-12 phone link that has a capacity of 600 lines.
LVMPD continues to use a conventional UHF radio system and has no plans
to move to 800 MHz or trunked. The center handles an 8,000 square-mile
service area and fields over 3 million phone calls a year.
Also check the official LVMPD Comm Center Web site.
