DISPATCH Magazine On-Line was born in 1987 as a printed, subscription magazine, and has always been focused on the news of public safety communications--not features. In early 2009 the printed edition was phased out, and now all of the news is posted on the Web site as the new DISPATCH Magazine On-Line.

The printed edition was the definitive source of public safety dispatching news, and now the Web site continues that tradition, drawing visitors from agencies large and small, from the United States and many other countries around the globe. Besides the front-page news, the Web site serves as a resource of critical dispatching topics, including 911, radio, staffing, hiring and training.

The printed publication's reputation and the Web site's world-wide reach makes it a perfect way to reach those who are looking for product solutions--perhaps your products and services. Our Web visitors come looking for software, hardware or service solutions to their specific problem, and know they'll find Web links that lead them to what they need.

The Web site generates 3,500 visits each day, with visitors looking at 14,000 pages of information.

There are several options to advertise on the DISPATCH Magazine Web site.

First, your ad can appear on either the homepage, where thousands of visitors come to read the latest news and information, or on one of the many topic-specific information pages, which visitors actively seek out for information and advice.

Second, your add can be in different sizes and formats, depending upon where it's displayed. Ad sizes are specified in pixels, a common measure for video screens.

Here are the specifics on placement and sizes:

Homepage

  • Top position: sized at 468 pixels wide and 60 pixels high. This ad is displayed every time someone surfs the home page, and because it's at the top of the story content, visitors never have to scroll to read it, offering great exposure.
  • In-line: sized at 300 pixels wide by 250 pixels high. It's located after the third story of the day, which usually means it's "below" the initial screen, and visitors must scroll down to read it.
  • Skyscraper: sized at 160 pixels wide by 600 pixels high, and located in the right-side column, about half-way down the page, below the in-line ad.

Topic Pages

DISPATCH Magazine also offers advertising on any of its other pages, which generally focus on a single topic, such as 911, training, ergonomics, VoIP, mobile data and many other topics. On these pages, there are two locations: the very top of the page or along the right side.

  • Top-of-page: sized at 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels high, or a larger ad sized at 728 pixels wide by 90 pixels high.
  • Side column: sized at 160 pixels wide by 600 pixels high, and located at the top of the page.

All of the ads are priced per-month, with 10%, 20% and 30% discounts for selecting three, six or 12 months respectively.

Technical Stuff

Your Web ad should be in GIF format, sized appropriately and created at 72-75 pixels per inch. You may also submit a Flash graphic for any animated or video ads.

That's it! Now, here's how to get started.

You select and pre-pay for specific ad placements and durations using VISA or MasterCard. That is, you choose which page and format to use, and for how many months the ad will appear. Once you've signed on, you'll receive an e-mail confirmation, with instructions on how to submit your ad graphic. Shortly after you submit the ad, it will begin to appear on the Web site. Before your ad expires, you'll receive a renewal invitation by e-mail, and you can sign up and pay on-line.

At the end of each month you'll receive an e-mail detailing how many times your ad graphic was served to visitors.
