Wireless Carriers Phase II Choices
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) required wireless carriers to file a report with the commisison by Nov. 9, 2000 setting out their choice of technology for providing the location of E911 callers--the so-called Phase II requirements. We've compiled this list of 150+ the carriers' choices from their official reports. The FCC has created an entire page of carrier reports with links to their Acrobat (pdf) format submissions. updated 11-21-2000
Of the 152 carriers reporting, 59 selected a handset solution (38%), 38 selected network (25%), nine selected a hybrid solution (6%), and 47 said they had not selected any solution (31%).
