Sweet story, but dispatchers step up like this all the time. In 1999 I handled a call about an abandoned litter of lab mix puppies and adopted the one with a broken hip who had been hit by a car. I paid all the medical bills, got him fixed up and took him home.
Max was a great addition to the family, but the dork never learned his lesson about cars and died about age 18 months after being hit by a truck on the highway (we were camping and he got away from us).
RIP Max.
