Call From Police Dept. Lobby: ‘I Killed My Sister’

Feeling desperate, a man walked into the Monroe Falls (Ohio) police department lobby, dialed 911 and told a police dispatcher, “I killed my sister, and I’m turning myself in.” Within 90 seconds officers officers arrived and quietly took Lawrence Hanly, 37, into custody. Police later drove to the home the two shared and found the body of Shannon Sayre, 32. During the call, Hanly said that he had strangled Sayre after she made threats to harm their mother. “I just lost it,” Hanly said during the call. In the first part of the call the unnamed dispatcher appears to ask questions to confirm that Hanly is serious about his admission, and later asks questions related to the crime itself.
