Dispatcher’s Holiday Gift–6,000 Toys for Kids

When Pascoe County (Fla.) sheriff’s dispatcher Wanda Perkins worked overtime or a holiday this past year, she set aside the money to buy toys for children, and then donates them to a local charity. This year, Perkins ended up with $6,000, and spent an eight-day vacation buying 1,500 toys. Perkins, 49, is single and has no children, but nevertheless says that, “Every child deserves Christmas.” She began her personal campaign in 2008 with 1,200 toys and 1,400 in 2009. She’s setting an even high goal for next year—10,000 toys. Read about Perkins work here.
