In pursuit of more sophisticated 9-1-1 network features, technology companies NICE Systems Ltd. and Intrado Inc. have announced a partnership to integrate their individual next-generation 911 (NG911) systems for public safety comm centers. In a press release, the companies noted their long history of advanced technology for telephony, radio and other communications to handle voice, text and data. The companies said they will now focus on, “interoperability testing of their respective solutions, and collaborate on new applications and services that provide enhanced emergency communications capabilities and cost savings to NG9-1-1 centers.” In a statement, NICE security division president Chris Wooten noted that NG911 is “all about IP-enablement.” He noted that the migration to IP-based technology is already transforming how 911 centers share and utilize information, and that the two companies’ NG911 and IP solutions are a “natural fit.” Visit the companies’ Web sites for more information: NICE / Intrado
