The Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) has announced the winners of the group’s annual awards, honoring those in various public safety communications jobs. The awards will be formally given at APCO’s annual conference in Houston during August. APCO executive director George Rice Jr. congratulated the winners. “The work they have done in their respective agencies are great examples of activities deserving of this great honor and their entire departments should be proud of their awards.” Those receiving the awards are:
- Telecommunicator of the Year – Cindy Skidmore, Bridgeport (Tex.) Police Department, Bridgeport
- Trainer of the Year – Nicholas Stepaniak, Stafford County (Virg.) Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Division, Stafford
- Information Technologist of the Year – Michele Hamilton, Pendleton County (Ken.) E-911 Dispatch
- Radio Frequency Technologist of the Year – Scott Walsh, City of Norman (Okla.)
- Line Supervisor of the Year – Natalie Heneks, Palm Beach County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office, West Palm Beach
- Communications Center Director of the Year – Debbie H. Fox, Louisville-Jefferson County (Ken.) Emergency Management Agency/MetroSafe Communications, Louisville
