Tragedy Plays Out During 911 Call

A Glynn County (Geo.) 911 dispatcher shared the tragedy of a murder suicide involving a young mother and her two children, all during a 7-minute 911 call. Dispatcher John Girton fielded a call from Julia Murray on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., and she told him matter-of-factly, “I just killed my two kids.” In fact, Murray had drowned her 4 year-old daughter, but her 2 year-old son survived. During the call, she shot herself in the chest with a handgun, telling Girton, “I just shot myself.” Girton then spent the next six minutes assuring her help was on the way.
