Dispatcher Talks Homeowner Through Shooting

A skillful Harris County (Tex.) 911 dispatcher stayed on the line with a frightened homeowner for 15 minutes, including while the man shot the intruder that woke him up in the middle of the night. Jorge Guzman dialed 911 when he heard someone break into the ground floor of his home, and then locked himself in an upstairs bedroom while he talked to the unnamed dispatcher. As sheriff’s deputies responded, the dispatcher kept the man calm and continued to obtain information about what he heard. But then the suspect tried to kick down the bedroom door, prompting Guzman to fire at the suspect. Deputies arrived shortly after, and the dispatcher told Guzman to stay in the bedroom while the deputies searched the house. Listen from start-to-finish to the amazing logging tape. logging tape
