Wake County (NC) sheriff’s deputies responded to an Apex residence after Jolene Hardy reported she found her husband beaten to death, and her attempts at CPR were unsuccessful. Deputies found Gerald Hardy, 60, dead of blunt force trauma, but concluded that the circumstances described by Jolene didn’t make sense. During a 911 made from a neighbor’s house, Jolene said she had been looking for her husband since the day before, and that she performed CPR for 30 minutes before giving up, walking to the neighbors and having him dial 911.
