The federal E9-1-1 Implementation and Coordination Office has posted the final rules for comm centers who intend to apply for grants under the ENHANCE 911 Act. The money was appropriated by Congress for use in enhancing 911 systems and implementing IP-based communications systems. Like all government grants, there are a number of very specific requirements for applying and qualifying, and the grants are competitive–not everyone receives funding. The deadline for applications is Aug. 4th. You can download (pdf) a summary of the rules from NENA, and copies of the Act here.
