In the wake of terminating a $2 billion radio contract with M/A-COMM, the state of New York will not pursue a statewide public safety radio network, but instead will construct interoperable regional systems to connect agencies. The state offices formed to manage the statewide project are being reorganized and focused on the new goals. State officials say that 19 of the state’s 62 counties are already either operating or will build interoperable systems, covering 31% of the state. Read more about he state’s plan here.
