Chicago CAD System Losing Incidents

When a Chicago emergency dispatcher “stacks” an incident in CAD for a police officer, officials say those incidents will sometimes disappear from the list of pending incidents, and the information can’t be recalled. The problem arose after a $6 million software upgrade in February. OEMC spokesperson Jennifer Martinez says the software glitch is being tracked down, and called the problem a “minor issue.” She explained that incident information isn’t being erased or deleted by the CAD software. Rather, the incident simply isn’t being displayed, and there’s no easy way to display it. She noted that Priority 1 incidents are never stacked, so no critical incidents have been lost.
