A substantial focus of public safety communications and this Web site is city, county and state-level communications centers, but the work and the responsibilities also extend much further, to the nation’s private EMS services, alarm companies, corporate campuses, military bases, colleges and universities. Every day dispatchers at these other centers are fielding telephone calls, coordinating field units by radio and managing a wide range of tasks. And every day these centers are interacting with their government partners when incidents cross over boundaries or when agencies need mutual assistance. So, kudos to these brother dispatchers for their unrecognized work. And to formalize the recognition, listen to this logging tape from the Public Safety Department comm center at Oregon Health & Sciences University, demonstrating that the work is all the same.
