Three 911 Calls = 3 Years in Prison

A Marion County (Ind.) prosecutor’s plea deal will mean that Rickey Jones, 37, will spend three years on prison for making three false 911 calls. In reality, police say Jones made hundreds of prank and malicious 911 calls over several years, usually reporting fires. Jones’ attorney said he needs psychological counseling, and officials speculated his fascination with firefighters and fire departments might have fueled his 911 call rampage. For many calls Jones told dispatchers that persons were trapped. During one 911 call he said, “”My house is on fire and my son is in there and my baby is in there. They cannot get out. The whole front of my house is on fire.” Police say they ramped up their investigation of the calls last fall, and finally identified Jones. Read more and watch a TV report here.
