911 Tape May Hold Clues After 22 Years

Homicide detectives in Los Angeles (Calif.) hope that a 22 year-old logging tape may provide some clue to the man who murdered several prostitutes and who eluded police. On the 30-second tape, a man says he saw someone dump a body from a van in an alley, and gave a license plate. Police recovered the van, but it belonged to a church and the driver could not be determined. Eight more women were murdered after that first shooting in 1987, all without clues to ID the killer. DNA was collected, but it only linked the murders and has not led to a suspect. Police now hope that someone recognizes the voice on the logging tape, or that it jogs a memory of what happened that night. Read more and listen to the tape here.
