The Jeffersonville (Ind.) police department has released logging tapes of the radio channel when two of its officers were shot and wounded by a drug suspect at a motel last Thursday. Cpl. Daniel Lawhorn and Ptl. Keith Broady arrived in response to a call from a motel employee about possible drug dealing, and were met at the door by the occupant who immediately opened fire with a handgun. The suspect and another man fled, and both are still at large. The officers are in guarded condition at a hospital. On the tape, you can hear the telephone call from the motel employee, the officers being dispatched, and then their call for help. Arriving units couldn’t find the officers, and feared the suspects were still at the scene. Listen (mp3) to the tape here, and catch the police dispatcher’s first response to the officer’s radio transmission after the shooting.
