Chimp Attacks Woman, Owner Dials 911

The owner of a 200-pound chimpanzee in Stamford (Conn.) dialed 911 for help when the animal attacked the owner’s friend, and told the dispatcher, “You gotta kill my chimp.” Neither the owner or animal experts can explain the chimp’s violent behavior. The chimp lived with the woman, and reportedly took on many aspects of human behavior, including channel surfing TV, and surfing the Internet. The owner attacked the chimp with a knife, but then turned to police for help. When officers arrived, they provided security for an EMS team to evacuate the victim. The chimp then came outside the house where he lived, and opened the door of a patrol car. The officer, who had fled to the car for protection, was forced to open fire, killing the animal.
