The consultant hired by Dane County (Wisc.) officials to review the operations of its public safety comm center has finished its study, noting that some problems have been fixed, but that understaffing, and outdated CAD system and too many policies still plague the center. The county paid Matrix Consulting Group $87,900 for the two-part study, which recommends the county install an automated attendant phone system to screen non-emergency calls. The audit was sparked by the murder of Brittany Zimmermann last year, and a 911 call from her apartment that did not result in a police response.
