While not directly related to public safety, logging tapes of the Jan. 15th emergency landing of a US Airways airliner into the Hudson River (NYC) offer insights into how clear and concise communications lead to a successful result. The tapes, just released by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), include air traffic controllers at airport towers, within FAA control centers, and from the airliner itself. Surf this FAA Web page for all the tapes. [Tracon = regional air traffic controller, tower = airport controller, ground control = planes on the ground. The first three tapes are the most pertinent.]
