The extensive London (UK) rail transport system debuted radio coverage for the first time this morning. The Underground, as it’s known, has 125 stations below ground level, and previously had no reception for the Airwave radio network used nationwide by the nation’s police force. The radio upgrade was sparked by the death of an Underground passenger in 2005, shot to death by an anti-terrorist squad who believed he was carrying a bomb. The officers lost radio coverage when they followed the man into an Underground station. Read more about the radio here.
