The town of Pikeville (Ken., pop. 6,228) is holding a job fair later this month, and is serious about hiring new dispatchers. The fair will feature on-site interviews, and the job offers “competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package,” according to a flyer. Download (pdf) the flyer here to see how they’re promoting the event. Update: The job fair was a “huge success,” according to 911 Coordinator Paul Maynard. They accepted 65 applications over two days (usual recruiting results in 20), and selected 10 persons to continue the process. They have given five polygraph exams to the top-rated persons. He expects the city to use this form of recruitment in the future, and the police and fire departments may also adopt the method.
