Zimmermann Update: Judge Withholds 911 Call

A Dane County (Wisc.) judge has ordered that two 911 logging tapes remain sealed until a closed hearing to consider the matter, but did approve the release of certain printed documents pertaining to the April murder of Brittany Zimmermann. The court action was filed by several media companies who say the contents of the logging tape contain information the public should know, but Zimmermann’s family and boyfriend oppose the release, saying the calls contains intensely personal details. Sources have said the the first 911 tape includes the sounds of someone screaming and other activity that should have alerted 911 calltaker Rita Gahagan that there was an emergency. No police were dispatched in response to the call, however. The court hearing on the logging tape is scheduled for Dec. 19th. Read more about the latest court action here. Read information about Gahagan’s interviews during an internal investigation here, and download (pdf) her supervisor Rick Lange’s report here.
