The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a call for information from companies about the planned Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), intended to replace the patchwork of systems now used to provide public warnings of emergencies in the U.S. The IPAWS project sprang from the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks and was ordered by President Bush in 2006. FEMA is just now asking for, “information that will help the Agency define its future contracting approach for providing implementation support services for (IPAWS).” Read more about IPAWS here, and download (.doc) the Request for Information here.
