Former Dispatcher Found Nearly Dead

Texas City (Tex.) police are seeking a man who dialed 911 to report that his mother was ill, and then slipped away before EMS units arrived to find former Galveston County sheriff’s dispatcher Linda Sainz nearly dead on the floor of her trailer home. Police say the home was filthy, Sainz was malnourished and that maggots were feeding on sores on her back. Sainz, 62, is recovering slowly in the hospital, and police are seeking Jonathan Smith, 38, who they believe was the person who dialed 911. They confirmed that Smith lived with his mother, but had disappeared after the 911 call. Police say they want to determine if there are any appropriate criminal charges in the case.
