Center Evacuated After HAZMAT Incident

About 20 Seattle (Wash.) police dispatchers were evacuated from their comm center for about 30 minutes mid-day on Monday, and one dispatcher was taken to a hospital after they reported a liquid on the floor was irratating their eyes and affecting their breathing. A complete fire and EMS response arrived at the comm center, but fire officials said they couldn’t locate the source of the irritant and don’t know what caused the symptoms. Most dispatchers had watery eyes and were treated by AMR medics on-scene, but one who suffers from asthma was taken to a hospital. Several dispatchers remained on-duty during the incident and no response delays occurred, officials said.
