Windsor (Ont.) police dispatcher Maggie Lanoue will be honored and presented with the first annual Meredith McPhee Memorial Award during 911 Community Service Awards banquet tonight. The 22-year veteran was selected by the family of Insp. George McPhee, who was struck and killed by a DUI driver while off-duty. Lanoue had previously worked with McPhee in the comm center. Lanoue is a busy dispatcher–she’s raised about $5,000 for cancer research and oversees the comm center’s 911 flower fund for department employees. She’s also a trainer and fill-in supervisor.
