Veteran Dispatcher Honored With Award

Windsor (Ont.) police dispatcher Maggie Lanoue will be honored and presented with the first annual Meredith McPhee Memorial Award during 911 Community Service Awards banquet tonight. The 22-year veteran was selected by the family of Insp. George McPhee, who was struck and killed by a DUI driver while off-duty. Lanoue had previously worked with McPhee in the comm center. Lanoue is a busy dispatcher–she’s raised about $5,000 for cancer research and oversees the comm center’s 911 flower fund for department employees. She’s also a trainer and fill-in supervisor. Read more about Lanoue here.
