Consultant’s Seminar To Question Radio Network

A San Francisco area radio consultant is inviting government officials to a seminar next January to explain the public safety radio network being proposed for the region, and he plans to raise critical questions. Daryl Jones has titled the seminar, “Will Your Community Be Bankrupted by a Regional Radio System?” and says there’s no assurance of federal funding for the $1+ billion radio plan that’s in the early planning stages. His seminar brochure says he’ll discuss why such regional systems have been “prematurely obsolete, disliked by the users, and not affordable to operate, maintain or replace.” The January 14, 2009 seminar costs $20 and will be held in South San Francisco (Calif.).
