Phase II Pinpoints Meth Suspect

A series of coincidences caught an Indiana man who was trying to steal anhydrous ammonia to use in the production of methamphetamine. Gibson County Sheriff’s officials say that a dispatcher received a 911 call in the middle of the night, and the location was displayed on the dispatcher’s screen–the Mackey Co-Op, which the sheriff says is a “daily target” for ammonia thefts. Under those circumstances, deputies responded to the location in the tiny crossroads town, and surrounded the fenced complex. They found and arrested Jesse Jefferies after a foot chase, and learned that he had accidentally pressed a button on his cellular phone, generating the 911 call.
