Kill the Deer? Not Us

Franklin County (Penn.) 911 officials say that no dispatcher at their agency told a storekeeper to kill a deer that ran into the business and was running wild. Instead, officials said, a dispatcher asked if anyone was injured, and when the answer was “No,” transferred the caller to the State Police comm center in Chambersburg. State police officials would not release the call, or comment on exactly what was said, but the business owner says they were told to “kill the deer.” Two men wrestled the deer outside, and a passing off-duty firefighter who saw the commotion stopped and killed the deer with a knife.
