Dispatchers Honored for Homicide Case

Two Kansas City (Mo.) police dispatchers have been honored with commendations for their work in helping to solve a serial murder case in 2004. Carmen Martin and Marsha Bradley were calltakers for the comm center, and in the midst of the murder series took phone calls from suspect Terry Blair, who called to tell police where some of the six bodies were located. In both cases, the women kept Blair on the line, asking him questions that helped identify the location from which he was calling. Police also used cellular phone records to narrow down the neighborhood where Blair lived. He was arrested and in March, 2008 found guilty of murder. Read about the commendation here.
