Candy Tampering Hotline Goes Live

For the 25th year, the National Confectioners Association is staffing a Halloween Candy Hotline as a resource to law enforcement agencies handling candy tampering or related incidents. The hotline will be staffed with personnel who can immediately refer suspicions, questions and actual incidents to individual candy makers for their assistance. The association says, “A call to the Hotline can help clear up any confusion and avoid unnecessary public alarm in the community. Hopefully, police will reach for our phone number rather than contact the local television station.” The hotline is (800) 433-1200 and is non-public, for law enforcement only.
