Dispatcher Honored for Amazing Incidents

It’s not so common to handle two critical incidents in the same month–how about two within 12 days at the same highway intersection? Central County (Mo.) officials honored 7-year veteran dispatcher Sheryl Hauk, fire and EMS workers who handled the delivery of a baby last May, and then a heart attack victim who pulled his truck over when he suffered chest pains. Hauk handled both calls, helping the father to deliver his sixth child on a rural highway. Then less than two weeks later, a 54 year-old man dialed 911 when he suffered a heart attack. Hauk kept him on the phone as EMS units responded, and the man later fully recovered. Read about Hauk’s tearful reunion with the people she helped, and listen to the 911 calls here.
