Dispatchers Push Public Education Program

Even in the midst of the city’s bankruptcy, Vallejo (N. Calif.) dispatchers are pushing forward with a public education campaign that brings firefighters, police officers and dispatchers to local schools. The city has suffered from the loss of industry and a naval base, and recently re-negotiated labor contracts with police and firefighters to cut its budget. But that wasn’t enough, so the city declared bankruptcy last May. But comm center manager Elisia Thomas says there are still dedicated employees who want to help the citizens.
