When a Scottsale (Ariz.) resident fell ill, his German Shepherd dialed 911 for help. Actually, Joe Stainaker’s dog buddy is a trained assistance dog, and has been instructed to press a speed-dial button the phone to alert a dispatcher. In addition, the police CAD system lists Stainaker’s address as having an assistance dog, so that dispatchers understand why they hear barking on the line. In this case, EMS units arrived and took both Stainaker and Buddy to the hospital, where Stainaker recovered. Read more and listen to the 911 call here.
