A group of six Odessa (Tex.) dispatchers was honored by the state for their handling of a Sept. 2007 shooting incident that left three Odessa police officers dead. The dispatchers received a “2008 Team Merit” award during an Austin state capitol ceremony, and were also recognized locally. The dispatchers are Vicky Davis, Sheila Belknap, Troy Doelling, Yvonne Woods, Sandy Stewart, and Elma Rubio.
